Irish Folk Art Goat and Kid
Early 19th Century Irish Folk Art Goat and Kid. Originally naively made and created as a child’s toy. The wooden goat in original red paint has ears made from the leather soles of Victorian shoes and glass marble eyes. Made from “found” timber, the head and horns are made from one piece of an old tree branch which would have been sourced as it looked aesthetically pleasing and could easily be incorporated into the form of the animal. Made with great skill and dexterity, a wonderful piece of early Southern Irish social history.
