These are the most imposing and large pair we have ever seen! Based on the famous forms of the Florentine Medici Lions. Palatial in scale - they will add grandeur and perfection to any garden, or a grand entrance to a home.
The Medici lions are a pair of marble sculptures, one of which is 2nd Century AD Roman, the other a 16th Century work. Both were housed at the Villa Medici, Rome in the 16th Century, and since 1789 they have been displayed at the Loggia dei Lanzi in Florence.
This pair of renditions depict standing maned lions with a sphere or ball under one paw, looking to the side, head raised in great roars! Created from composite stone with many years of wear, patination and a perfect smattering of lichen. Absolutely incredible pieces.
Please do note a small old repair to front base of one lion. Size per Lion.
