A Tiny 14th Century Gilt Bronze Pricket Travelling Candlestick
An incredibly rare and remarkably tiny travelling Pricket Candlestick from the 14th Century.
Created in bronze then gilded, etched and pieced with foliate decoration. This wonderful piece would have been used by a traveler of some means as this was an expensive and luxurious item in its’ day. We can imagine it on its journeys being used to light the darkness so its owner could read books and manuscripts and write letters by its flickering light. We can only dream of its travels across Europe and then its’ eventual journey though the last 600 years or so to the present day.
